Why CMIS?
Mr. Young
CMIS is an ever growing garden, nurtured collectively by students, educators, and administrators alike. A CMIS educator helps students recognize the seeds they would benefit from planting to help bring variety and colour to their future learning growth. A CMIS learner is one who engages in the gardening process with the educators to set growing goals, and establishes the required sunlight, nutrients, and care required for those goals to bear fruit. A CMIS learner is encouraged to be innovative, ask BIG questions, exercise healthy habits, and practice effective communication through organic collaborative opportunities.
CMIS is a resilient community, where challenges are faced with open discussion, and all stakeholders’ voices are considered, with a spotlight placed on the voices of our learners. I am proud to be part of a group of educators who seek to be trailblazers in the realm of integrating technology into the online and offline classroom. Whether learners engage within the traditional four-walled classroom, find themselves on an experiential adventure through virtual reality or community involvement, or through online activities in Google Classroom, CMIS keeps learning interactive, relevant, and up-to-date.
Choosing to stay at CMIS was an easy decision. Learners are motivated to take personal ownership of their learning -- the best mindset a teacher could ask for to facilitate growth moving forward together on a journey of lifelong learning.
